My heartfelt apology to all my readers. I was wrong & I'm sorry!

Woow ... Slow down ... pause and take a breath ...

For the past 8 months I’ve been working hard ... night and day ... building my Mommy MindSpa website. But as I take a step back and have a good look at what it is that I’ve built ... I’m embarrassed.

How did this happen?

I wanted to create a resource to help moms ... to give them a place to go to get some support when & where they need it ... To encourage moms to take out for themselves. To help them fully enjoy motherhood.

And what’s happened? Instead of providing help, support and encouragement, I’ve turned into a pushy salesperson! My site is filled with affiliate links and all my posts ask for a sale.

I hate salespeople ... and I turned in to one of them.

I am truly sorry.

I recently received some great advice and I realize now that I’ve been going at this all wrong.

I don’t want to have a sales site trying to push products down your throat. I want the Mommy MindSpa to be a place you truly want to visit ... I want you to feel welcome here ... I want you to get value out of the time you spend here. And I don’t want you to have to cough up your credit card number!

I’m a mom too ... and I know how precious your time and your money is!

I don’t want to waste yours or my time anymore. I don’t want to be pushy anymore. I want to support you and encourage you to be the wonderful, vibrant, sexy woman you are!

As of today, The Mommy MindSpa is turning a new page. My blog is moving domains to start fresh.

My plan is to post each and everyday with something of value to you, my mommy readers. I’ve been at this mommy game for 9 years now, and I understand how important it is to do something ... even if it’s just 1 thing each day ... for yourself.

5 Things You Never Knew You Could Do With The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind

The power of your subconscious mind is an awesome thing.  Through creative visualization and audio hypnosis downloads, amazing inner healing can occur.  You might be surprised at some of the things that you can actually do with the power of your subconscious mind.

Most simply put, decide what it is you truly want, focus on that, and you can actually create it for yourself.  The problem is that most people focus on the negative - on what it is that they don’t want.  So they end up actually manifesting that instead.  
Here’s a great example - how many times have you heard someone saying “I’m sick and tired of being broke”.  What do you think ends up happening?  Does that help them get out of their situation of not having any money?  Or does it keep them sick, tired and broke?  That’s right...it keeps them stuck in the same sick, tired and broke state.  
Now what do you think would happen if instead they focused on being in perfect health with an abundance of wealth?  Would that serve them better?  You bet it would.
Focus on what you want to happen in your life.  Use the power of your subconscious mind positively and watch amazing things happen to you.
So what can you create for yourself with the power of your subconscious mind?  Well, that’s really up to you.  Once you understand the power that you have, you can truly create anything.  Here’s a list to get you started...
1.  Fear and Phobias 
Do you suffer from claustrophobia or arachnophobia?  Do you fear flying, public speaking, or even death?  Do you have a fear of rejection, injections, heights, or bridges?  Do you suffer from stage freight, or panic attacks?
You can use the power of your subconscious mind and creative visualizations to get past all these fears and phobias.  Break free of the fear!

Are Canadians Succeeding With Their Weight Loss? Survey Says -> NO!

While doing my reading this morning, I came across this survey from the Canadian Obesity Network. This clearly shows that Canadians are investing a lot of their hard earned money into different weight loss products, and having little success with them.

Here are the results of the survey: 

  • The average dieter spent $900 on commercial programs, $766 on membership at a gym, $600 on diet pills, and $400 on special diets that promise weight loss. 
  • Around 75% of these individuals had been fighting with their weight for more than 11 years 
  • Around 25% of them didn’t even remember how many times they’d tried to lose weight. 
Dr. Arya Sharma, who works as the scientific director of the obesity network, said that the misperception that obesity arises solely out of laziness and bad diet choices was proven wrong by this study because it shows that these obese individuals were serious about losing their excess weight.

The survey itself was given to 524 Canadians with severe obesity that were at least 18 years old online through Leger Marketing. According to the survey, a person with severe obesity had to have a Body Mass Index measurement of at least 35.

“The survey makes clear that Canadians are confused about where to go to find credible weight management resources”, said Dr. Sharma. “What Canadians with excess weight need most is clear guidance on how to find the help they need”.

I wish all these people knew that it really isn’t about what program you follow to lose the weight. There are a lot of really great programs out there.

So why do so many fail?

9 times out of 10 the weight loss programs aren’t what failed ... but rather it’s the participant that doesn’t to stick to the program that causes the failure.

It doesn’t matter which plan you follow. Pick one. There certainly are a plethora of weight loss plans out there. Do your research and chose the one that makes the most sense to you. Then use hypnotic weight loss to take your weight loss program to the next level!

Week 2 Article - Anti-Aging Hypnosis

So ... it's Thursday and I'm a little behind in writing my article for the week.  My apologizes!  I had to take a few days off this week as we're doing psychologicals test on my son.  Turns out he's gifted!  Yeah!  Still waiting on further results, but at least that explains a few of his wonderful 'quirks' and why he has such trouble in school focusing!

But now back to work ...

For this week's article I'm going to be focusing on 'Anti-Aging:  Using Hypnosis To Turn Back The Clock!'

I've started my research on this subject already, and I'm super excited about it!

Who doesn't want to look and feel younger?  And using hypnosis is a great way to do this.  "You are only as old as you feel".  Ever heard that before?  It's a very popular saying ... and it's true!  BUT ... with hypnosis you can get deep down in your subconscious and literally turn back the clock by making yourself truly FEEL younger!

I'm so excited about this right now.  I'm going to head back to writing my article for ya ... and I'll post either later today or tomorrow explaining exactly how YOU can benefit from this.

I just heard about this incredible cause and I felt had to share it.  So many of us, especially in the Western world, get caught up in how we're going to birth our babies.  Are they going to natural childbirths?  What is our birthing plan?  Who is going to help deliver the baby, and so on ...


I never stopped to think about the rest of the world.  

Every minute a women dies of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. Ninety-nine percent of these deaths occur in developing nations. For every woman who dies in childbirth, another 30 women incur injuries and infections, which are often preventable.

I just heard about Bloggers For BirthKits ... and I'm going to do everything I can to spread the word about this amazing cause. Basically, this organization is supplying mothers in Papua New Guinea with simple birthing kits to help increase their chances of a happy and safe childbirth.

Welcome to Week One of the Mommy MindSpa’s Weekly Audio Hypnosis Information Articles. Each week I’ll be researching, writing, and posting new articles on topics that moms want to learn more about. Topics that will help YOU enjoy motherhood more, and help you be the best mom you can be! (Please feel free to comment and let me know what you’d like to learn more about).

This week’s topic will help all moms! This week I’m going to be writing about how hypnosis can help you heal your immune system.

Sniffles. Sneezes. Colds & flu. When you’ve got kids, you’ve got germs. 

Kids are around them at the playground. They’re around them at daycare and at school. Especially in the spring and fall, there’s no way to avoid the germs.

BUT .... there IS a way to strengthen your immune system so that the germs won’t affect you. Or if they do, at least with a strong immune system, your symptons will be much lighter and you’ll heal super quick!

On a personal note - with 3 kids, this is something that I’ve used myself. I feel that it is so important that we, as moms, stay super stong through cold & flu season. We need to be there to help heal our families. We need to be feeling great and functioning our best. A sick mom can bring the whole family down.

We all know that it’s important to take care of ourselves. We know that it’s important to eat right and exercise. We know that we need to keep the house clean and wash our hands regularly. We know the basics.

But there is a secret that I’ve learned to help me stay in perfect health through the tough months. I’ve learned that we can use hypnosis to strengthen our immune systems.

I’ve started doing my research for this weeks article, and it’s coming along great! Using hypnosis to heal our immune system has been scientifically studied and proven to work. I’m compiling all the stats and I’ll post the article in the next few days.

Help Grow The Mommy MindSpa Into An Incredible Resource For Moms Around The World!

As I’ve made it my mission to empower moms to take control of their minds, bodies, and health, I’ve decided to put in place a new weekly plan for the Mommy MindSpa.

I want the Mommy MindSpa to have an extensive library of informative articles teaching other moms how they can easily work on themselves, and be the best mom, wife, and woman they possibly can be!

I know how powerful audio hypnosis is. I’ve seen all the incredible things that it can do. I’m a firm believer in the power of using audio hypnosis to make incredible changes from within. Now I want YOU to have access to all the information you need to learn how audio hypnosis can help you too!

Each week I’m going to be researching a new issue that audio hypnosis can help with. By the end of each week, I’m going to publish a new article that will teach other moms how they can best use hypnosis to help with this particular issue. Hypnosis Puts YOU Back In Control ... As Seen In The New York Times!

A main fear that I hear all the time about hypnosis is that you will lose control. Many fear that they will fall under the ‘hypnotist’s spell’ - and that they will completely lose control of themselves.

Nothing is farther from the truth, according to Dr. David Spiegel, director of the Center on Stress and Health at Stanford University School of Medicine and a leading authority on hypnosis.

“People think hypnosis is about giving up control,” said Dr. Spiegel. “But it’s actually giving control back to the patients.”

Hypnosis is a tool used by therapists to help patients make changes in themselves that they want. BUT ... it will only work if the patient wants it to. They are fully in control throughout the entire session.

What hypnosis does is it puts you into a relaxed state, which opens your mind and pushes down the barriers of your critical state of consciousness. This allows you to become more receptive to the ideas and concepts that are presented to you.

The hypnotherapist then makes specific suggestions to help change a behavior, perception or physiological condition.

Here’s an example ... if someone is trying to quit smoking, they may be told under hypnosis that cigarettes are poisonous and that it’s important to care for and respect their body.

When this suggestion gets engraved into their subconscious, you can bet they’ll think twice about lighting up that cigarette.

But again - the suggestion will not work if the patient does not want it to. They can choose to accept or reject the suggestion.

Hypnosis is certainly becoming more popular and mainstream as an effective method of helping with many illnesses. It’s even now available to patients at some of the most respected medical institutions in America, including Standord Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.

Dispelling the 3 Main Fears Associated With Hypnosis And Self-Hypnosis

I’ve been getting many questions from my readers wondering if all this talk about hypnosis is actually legit. There is certainly a buzz going around right now about all the benefits of hypnosis and all the great things that hypnosis and self-hypnosis supposedly can do.

Supposedly. Possibly. But ...

But what are the risks and dangers with hypnosis? There’s lots of uncertainty and fear surrounding hypnosis ... and more specifically ... self-hypnosis.

Some of the fears and questions I’ve been hearing are: 

  • “I’m not sure that hypnosis is safe!” 
  • “Is it going to cause me to lose control? 
  • “Am I going to be ‘under the power’ of the hypnotherapist?“ 
  • “Am I going to get lost in a trance and not be able to come out?” 
Movies and stage shows have done a great job at creating these fears ... but in reality, nothing could be father from the truth.

So let’s address these fears:

1.  Is hypnosis safe? 
Yes - hypnosis is perfectly safe. Here's the scoop: the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association have approved hypnotherapy for use by professionally responsible individuals. The British Medical Association adopted hypnosis as a viable therapeutic tool in 1958.

2. Am I going to lose control and be ‘under the power’ of the hypnotherapist?
No - you will not lose control. You won't do anything in a hypnotic state that you would not find acceptable in your normal awake state.

In clinical hypnosis, you will be aware of what is going on and you will find you actually feel you have more control over yourself. The hypnosis is simply increasing your ability to communicate with yourself.

3.  Am I going to get lost in a hypnotic trace? 
No you will not get lost in the trance. You are fully able to come out when you’re ready.

Actually, you go into hypnotic trances every day ... naturally ... and come out naturally. For example, when you drive a long distance, you may find that miles and time seem to evaporate, and suddenly you're at your destination. Or you may get wrapped up in a project at work, and suddenly realize that you should have been somewhere an hour ago.

While under hypnosis you have greater awareness than when you are fully awake and you retain all the power to select what you want to say or do. You are fully in control. You can come out of the trance whenever you decide that you’re ready.

So I ask you this ... Now that we understand that the common fears associated with hypnosis are in fact just fears and not reality, what are you going to be about it? What if it just might work for you?

Can Hypnosis Really Help With Weight Loss? That’s CRAZY!

I use to think that hypnosis was for stage shows. It was used to make people bark like dogs, jump on one foot while spinning around, and lots of other crazy things. This is called stage hypnosis and while it may be entertaining, I’ve learned there’s so much more that hypnosis can do.

I learned that not all hypnosis is this crazy. There’s another kind of hypnosis that can actually be used to help people.

A few years ago I was introduced to this other kind of hypnosis called Medical Hypnosis. I’ve since learned what hypnosis is able to do, and I’m amazed! Hypnosis can help with everything from anxiety to migraines to insomnia, and from phobias to quitting smoking to pain management.

I’ve personally used hypnosis to:

  • and I even used hypnosis to reduce my breasts after breast feeding my 3 kids!

Hypnosis for weight loss has been clinically studied and proven to work, without a shadow of a doubt.

This shows that hypnosis works even better over time (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996).

  • Stradling J, Roberts D, Wilson A, Lovelock F. Controlled trial of hypnotherapy for weight loss in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea. International Journal of Obesity Related Metababolic Disorders. 1998 Mar;22(3):278-81. 

So is hypnosis crazy? Well ... I guess it depends on what you’re using it for.  It’s pretty crazy and comical if you’re using stage hypnosis to quack like a duck ... but if you truly want to lose weight, medical hypnosis is an amazing, PROVEN way to help you get the pounds off. So I'd say no ... medical hypnosis is not crazy.

Life, Chocolates, Chinese Buffets, and Weight Loss!

I’ve always believed that Forrest Gump had it wrong. “Life is like a box of chocolates.” He’d say. “You never know what you’re gonna get!” Forrest Gump is a classic movie and I loved it. I thought Tom Hanks was brilliant. I just really didn’t like the philosophy.

What kind of life is that? You never know what you’re gonna get!

I much prefer to think of life as a chinese buffet! Pick and choose what you want! Want more of something? Go back for seconds! Don’t like something? Push it to the side of your plate and get something else.

And then there’s dessert! All the dessert you can eat! YUM!!

A chinese food buffet! That’s a much better way to think of you life ... don’t you agree? You truly can pick and choose what you want out of life ... or don’t want!

Today Is A Great Day To Be Happy!

It’s a grey, gloomy Thursday here in Southern Ontario ... but I’m not letting that get me down! I want to BE HAPPY!

The problem with diets is that it’s so easy to make excuses.
  • “I’m going out with friends tonight.  I’ll go back on my diet tomorrow!”

With Hypnobirthing, Nothing Works!

We see it often - HypnoBirthing mothers accept that they have the ability to relax through the first phase of labor. But when it comes to talking about the baby’s descent and birthing, the question is, “What do I do then?” My answer is always the same - “NOTHING!! That’s what I want you to get out of this course. The understanding of doing “Nothing!!”

With HypnoBirthing NOTHING works. It’s Nature’s perfect design from the very onset.

Let’s look at a newborn baby girl - as she emerges, who teaches her to breathe? She does absolutely nothing to make it happen - but it happens.

If properly placed and encouraged, she crawls and bobbles her way to the breast for her first meal outside the womb. There is nothing that anyone gives her in the way of instruction - A natural GPS??

Within minutes of being born, she releases her anal sphincters, and out comes her first stool, or she pees. How does she do that without a chart of how to perform timely bodily functions?

Over time, as she grows and develops, with nothing to tell her how or when or how many times, she learns that she can sneeze to clear her nasal passages; she can signal that she is hungry or wants attention if it’s not readily there; she startles and becomes alert if she is frightened; and, if she feels secure, she can relax and fall asleep in loving arms. Fast forward to when she is a teenager. Her body changes with nothing but internal hormonal secretions to act as catalysts - she becomes a woman. The power of nothing is, and has been, alive in her human experience in so many ways, and she has mastered many functions with nothing but instinct to guide her.

Nothing has to teach her that she is experiencing her first love. She instinctively knows it and feels it. And when the time is right, there is nothing she has to study to learn how to express that love physically.

But enter the miracle of pregnancy, and all of a sudden, her previous trust, power, and confidence crumbles. She is now taught that her body is incapable of leading her through what should be a perfectly magical time. She must now be carefully taught how to nurture her pregnant body and her baby and ultimately how to give birth.

She is further taught that her trust and dependence is best placed outside of her own abilities and externally placed into the hands of others - strangers, trained and practiced experts, who know better than she. She needs them now to efficiently and conveniently manage her birth. They will teach and guide her along each step of the way. Instinct be damned!

She is now categorized onto charts - primagravida, and she’s put onto schedules, and regimens. She learns that she is inadequate and almost irrelevant to her own birthing experience.

For the woman who senses this as a disconnect, there are two options. She can go along with the prevailing model, or she can trust birthing, register for a HypnoBirthing class and learn to do nothing!!

We know that many of our moms hear a common question when they say they are preparing to birth their baby with HypnoBirthing. The question often is “Are you out of your mind.” In truth the response to that is “Yes.” To rely on her basic birthing instincts, a mother literally needs to be “out of her mind”. That’s where she turns her birthing over to her body and gets her mind and the regimens and techniques out of the way.

That’s exactly where we want our moms to be. When we teach them otherwise - how to do, and when to do, and how often to do - we confuse the inner consciousness, which controls instinct. Instinct no longer can function - we have stifled the natural function with the clutter of confused, panicked mind talk.

We strip it of the internal knowing, and then we turn to drugs as an external means of forcing the body to do what it used to know how to do. We know that drugs inhibit the bonding experience at birth, and mind talk also inhibits bodily function. Instead of achieving the objective, we confuse the body and it abdicates.

My question to all is: How dare we? How dare we presume to think that we can manipulate and redesign and introduce confusion into the experience with our own special outlines, instructions and techniques? How dare we mess with what is already perfectly created?

When we distribute charts and lists and lessons, filled with exercises and positions and advice,in effect,we are telling our parents that they need to do more and they need to do it this or that way at particular times. We need to bring about an awareness that what we teach in HypnoBirthing is not the cornerstone of HypnoBirthing, but rather suggestions to pass time.

Parents panic. They are afraid they will forget what we carefully instilled. They question are they doing it “right’? The only important thing is that they learn to do nothing - to just “allow” - to be the mammals that they are and return to their basic instincts.

Birthing has a rhythm and a flow, and every bit of “fixing” that we impose helps to disturb and shut down that very rhythm and flow. What they need to develop is a mastery to be “Out of their minds.” We need to stop humanizing birth. We have to put aside our own egos and our need to be a relevant factor in their birthing.

  • In a meta-analysis, comparing the results of adding hypnosis to weight loss treatment across multiple studies showed that adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97% during treatment, and even more importantly increased the effectiveness POST TREATMENT by over 146%. This shows that hypnosis works even better over time (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996).
The bottom line here is that when hypnosis sessions are added to various weight loss programs, the results are always better — more than 146% better over the long term!

Moms Wear Many 'Hats'!

Let’s face it - To be a mom you need to multi-task.  There are so many things we need to accomplish in a day.  Being a mom is a very busy job.
Moms wear many ‘hats’. We wear the ‘mom-hat’ where we’re always there for our kids ... wiping runny noses, packing lunches, and driving car pool to school and activities.  
We wear the ‘wife-hat’ where we’re there for our husbands, supporting them when they need us ... and ensuring that his favorite dinner is on the table.  
We wear the ‘house-keeper-hat’ taking care of the laundry, making the beds, and doing the grocery shopping.
